I think that some rules may be fixed for all... some other rules must be optional. There are many things that are just a "personal intention" of the tactical mode (ex. the hip fire, as I explained to Jazz in an other post). We should talk all together, saying what we think about every rule... and maybe we may write our "articles of confederation"

1stRBN will not change it's rules to "fit in" with anyone. We are an adult member independent clan that has developed our rules over time to reflect fair, realistic, and a close to real life gameplay. Our servers have evolved over the last year and a half to what they are today.
I have answered questions to help clarify what our rules are and have invited you to play on our server and see for yourselves how our rules work. Few have taken us up on this offer. (To those who have, thank you for giving us a chance.)
I have sent Copper-Head a message questoining our status here and have not yet received a reply (this was sent out between 5-9 days ago). I can only believe that it means that we are not welcome to join your "group". That is fine if that was what was decided but it would be nice to receive some sort of response rather than a cold shoulder. (My members have responded above my post and have not been replied to either).
I would only ask that if you feel that others don't fit into your idea of a "NrG Tactical" type of server, that you honestly let them know via pm, ts, or email. I have no hard feelings towards anyone here, I just feel as though our clan is being "judged" by some people who have yet to try our server out and really don't have all the information needed to pass judgement.
It appears to me that this web site could be better organized or run so that people/clans are not left hanging.
I suggest posting some guidelines for future clans to be able to read prior to inviting them to join your group. This would avoid a long, pointless debate, as was evident here in this thread.
Respectfully submitted,
1stRBN MajGEN.YERFDOG

That is a GREAT suggestion. I believe if you read the various post on this forum, you will realize that this is very new. We are in the process of making the guidelines VERY clear, so that these type of things don't happen in the future. The major thing that binds this group, is the "Crouch to move" rule. And that has to be (in my mind) the first criteria for full participation. When you start throwing, "buts" and "ifs" in along with the rule, it gets a little messy. So, at the end of the day, I see no reason for you to distance yourself from this forum or it's members. You are welcome here. It just comes down to this. Why would a well established clan, like yourselves want to wear NoRnG tags to ID your server, if that does not describe your server? Hope to see you around HL

The problem I saw with tactical realism in the past is trying to enforce some admin rules for a tactical server. With the MOD - the admin'ing goes away and is replaced by the mod gameplay variables. You can run but only to the limits set in the server. You can hip shoot but you pay a price "shell shock" or "damage" whatever. I understand its the defination of Tactical that the above messages are talking about but by having activated a few gameplay limiters in the variables of the mod you define Tactical Realism but not by server admin rules and an endless discussions. JMHO
Running limited to escape from gun fire & nades and crossing open spaces period. Hip shooting - close in gunfights only -what is close in? with the shell shock screwing up your aim it pretty-well defines the distance to me. If you set the hip-shoot variable right who cares if the idiot shoots from the hip all the time. Bunny hopping? I have not seems this as a problem in COD4 or other newer games. It is non-realism, not very tactical and you will die anyway looking stupid. It was in the older games that this was useful.
If you play lone-wolf only and not as a squad - you are non-realism in my book anyway. Sniper is the exception.

Hope to see you around HL I agree that you should not change your rules or gameplay to join any type of community, keep in mind there are other tactical communities out there. Were just starting this community and its gonna take a little more time getting organized. I'm sure you have seen tactical communities come and go in your time with the 1stRBN. I don't know who has visited your server yet or heard any type of feedback. To my knowledge you have not been denied. I still believe we need to set up 'representatives' from each clan already in this community to pass along info to the other representatives of the community.

Hey guys I'm sorry yerfdog but I did not receive your PM.. It's me after playing with the 1stRBN Tactical who invite them here, because they were playing not worst and not better then 90% of all the Clan in here... Now if we go to other Tactical clan on other country it would be less of a problem because nobody will be able to read their rules.. Not only this group should promote tactical play but it should also teach and show the benefit of it......... Now if a Clan is coming here and want to join and Jazz or another one just go on their web site and take the text and make a final decision after that text.... It's not right to my point of view.. You should play with those Clan and even if they bend the rules a little we should be strong enough to convince them of or game style by welcoming them on ours servers. And if they dont like it then this group is not for them. Who is in here the people who decide who will join and who will not, do we have a commitee... We should take our decisions only after played a few match on our servers and on theirs, not only about text on a web site, not all the clan as enough ressources to update their site on a regular bases.... We dont have rules on our servers does it mean 1st-Rangers can not be part of this group.. Copper-Head

I would like to be the first to say that I would like to take on the position of being a part of a committee, if any one ever gets started to say the least. I know [509th] Jazz is in charge of managing this new tactical gaming community, but I believe that we, those who have posted so far, can appoint specific people to start to get in touch with those clans that want to be considered NoRnG and talk with them.
I still would like to see those interested in joining a teamspeak server to discuss the issue of rules and regulations that we will agree to so that new clans and units can come and see what the basic structure of our community is. Let's just say that we need to write something down on paper about basic rules, because if we never do, then no one is going to be able to know what rules are set in stone and what other things can be bent a little. These rules do not have to be set in stone right away, and could very possibly change over time as we test them out and see how they influence the NoRnG community.
One last thing, I think that someone just posting that they want to be in this community should not just mean that they are a part of it. I think that us just letting anyone come in and say that they are going to play by these terms and condition we have set up would be foolish. There are a lot of younger groups of children out there that see something like this forum and get really excited about it, but in a month have got bored of it and changed their game play again. We need dedicated groups that are going to bare through the storms and winds of low traffic on their server, and put up with run n gunners coming in and deal with them accordingly. This idea takes time and takes a lot of work. But if all goes according to plan, we will all be looking back at this community in a year and be popping our champagne bottles in victory of a well run organization.
With that said, I will talk to Jazz and see when it will be best for him to make a meeting on Teamspeak to discuss general game play and rules for this community. Then I will get back to you.
Over and Out,

It might be worth trying a probationary time period for interested Clans. They could come in and participate in our game play and after a reasonable time period there would be a vote by the member clans for full membership. That way there could be some experience to discuss instead of trying to figure out what is being said in the forum. Most of the rules being discussed are addressed by our MOD's and that would be the controlling factor. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with Eagle - giving a reasonable time period of playing gives everyone a better feel on both sides as to whether they want to be considered for membership and if they will be considered. This is only fair to both. The mod's on everyone's server at this time dictates how the game is played. Just my 2 cents too.

Merely a comment ... only my humble opinion based on my experience as an admin on our servers and a player on other servers.
This site explicitely promotes the idea of CROUCH and No RUN&GUN to coinside with "Tactical" realism.
These are the very ideals that 1stRBN was formed by and we continue to improve upon as time enlightens us to new ideas. It has been very exciting, and at the same time disappointing, for me to discover this community.
MODs: Tireless dedication by server admins is the ONLY way to promote the above mentioned ideals. MODs take away from the "tactical" realism of a server. 1. Someone throws a nade at you a few times on one map and you RUN to avoid the blast and you get temp banned for running. Not ideal adminning in my opinion. 2. You are in the middle of a street taking direct fire ... CROUCH your way to cover (in other words taking a bullet) or RUN to cover one too many times and get temp banned.
A living breathing experienced server admin can determine 1000 times better than an automated MOD who is breaking the rules or not. Automated MODs are the lazy mans way of controlling a server and TAKE AWAY from the "Tactical Realism" of said server. This is much like calling the phone company and getting an automated response rather than taking to a human being.
As Gen.Yerf has already said ... I invite you all to visit our servers. I strongly feel that anyone who is honest with themselves will find my above opinion to be pretty close to accurate.
Someones MOD post above got me on a lil tangent. But I still feel strongly enough to hit the "submit" button below.
Regards, Red

I tried them and its half way between TR and RnG. Alot of running goes on to get back into battle and to move from place to place. And they have kill cam on. They should try our clans servers and see if they are interested in moving towards Tactical Realism. I agree they are not R&G but not my diff. of TR either. IMHO.

I guess I'm kind of torn over this. I have played on this server a couple of times now. I joined again tonight after the weekly INVASION. And talked to one of their members in depth. I was basically informed that you can run all you want when in the streets. In any type of cover you have to crouch. When firing at an enemy you must fire from a crouched position. This to me seemed odd as with only admin around to enforce this it basically becomes a free for all when outdoors. By this members own admission when the server gets full it gets hectic in there as I have witnessed first hand. And from my initial visit I would have said they where a run and gun server. However tonight when I joined. I saw a different side of the server. everyone was walking in a crouched position and generally keeping the running to a min. Keep in mind there where only 10 players on so it was easy to police the server.
Things I dislike about the server. The nerfing of the weapons(so it seems) but this is due to not being a hardcore server the G-3 was useless and it promoted using a fully auto weapon just to keep on pace). The not being allowed to camp or sit still. To me this is irritating. Not because I like to camp(even though I do like smores now and then). More for the fact of it doesn't allow your team to get in a good firing position without having to move out of the place. KIllcam this maybe just more of a pet peeve of mine then anything. I don't normally play on a server with it. It just gives away to much info to the other team. Drawing of the cross hairs to me this is another of the things that promotes spray and pray and, should have never been introduced to the gaming world. This is an oxymoron with the server they are trying to run. Be tactical but here are some sites, you can hip shoot across the map with them. The other thing I did not like was they have the server speak on. But it is not used. This is like pissing gasoline on a fire with the rest of the things I noticed.
With all this being said and done. I noticed they are running the ACE mod. Are they running into just a mere lack of tools? Hence the running issues and a few of the others.
So I guess in reality I'm still out on this one and, will visit a few more times to see how things go.
