Sorry to post this again, I wanted to put it as a new thread. Hey guys, Im pretty new to this, I cant even get the map/mod tool to work, maybe I will try again with someones help (Lag M.I.A.). I am into testing maps, and I wanted to know if everyone does it the same way, and if someone could make it easier. I start the game, launch the Modwarfare mod, then enable old school mode, then start it up in a stock map, then change it to the map Im testing. Is there a way to have a desktop shortcut to start the game with this already done? Or a kind of script within the game so as soon as I start it up, I hit one key, then it starts the game in Modwarfare, old school enabled, and in some stock map, so all I would have to do is manually load the map? Isnt it possible to add the commands after the exe for COD4? Right now my shortcut says ""C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe"" Cant you add (these are my objectives, I have no idea how to do this) "/launch modwarfare/enable old school mode/launch game into map" to the end of it? This would make the (my) testing process a good amount quicker. I have set myself up where my buddy (Lag MIA) connected straight to my pc, by setting up a port opening before, but its much easier just to do it myself, although I dont get a feel for spawn locations, possible flag glitches, etc. Does anyone out there have an idea, i.e., write this assumedly 3 line addition to my shortcut, if possible?

Is it a dedicated server that you are trying to run from home (i.e. on a different computer than the one you play on)?
OR,
are you running the server and playing on the same machine?

Jester, I am not running a server per se, but just testing the maps myself. I have, and will, if its just as easy, start a server to have another person on line with me. Yes, its the same PC I play on. I didn't like the idea of opening a port for the game, because from what I read when doing it, it makes me vulnerable for that time, although I'm not all that worried about it, but now that I'm posting here on an open forum... Thanks, Immolatus

download awe, extreme or whichever mod and place the files in a folder you create named 'maptest' place all the files from the mod inside there when you test a new map, create a new sub folder inside the usermaps folder inside this new maps folder will be the 2 .ff files and the .iwd file inside. Sometimes there is no .iwd file so no minimap. the folder name is always the name of the .ff file mp_agroprom_x01.ff goes into mp_agroprom_x01 folder mp_athena.ff file goes into mp_athena folder mp_mtl_the_rock.ff goes into mp_mtl_the_rock folder TO START YOUR HOME SERVER copy your cod4 mp shortcut and rename to home serverchange the target line to "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +set dedicated 2 +set fs_game mods/maptest +set net_ip YOURIPHERE +set net_port 28960 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate NOTE: there may not be a server.cfg file, it may be named config.cfg Rename it to server.cfg or change ytour command line to say config create a second shortcut to join your home server, rename it me. Change the target line to "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +password OPTIONAL +rcon login OPTIONAL +connect YOURIPHERE:28960 TO START YOUR SERVER AND TEST A MAP double click your home server shortcut to start the server. Only a mini program window will popup. double click your me shortcut to join your server. LOADING NEW MAP in the mini console at the command line type in map mp_mtl_the_rock or if you are logged in to rcon on your home server, just type the rcon command in the game command line /rcon map mp_mtl_the_rock I'll try to get the basic awe and extreme files setup for everyone in the next day or two. It's 5 am, I hope this make sense..........

I still can't get this to work, and I've triple checked what I'm doing. I prolly have to open up the port on my router to get this to work, and I'll continue to work on it, but my efforts may have become slightly moot from my new affiliation. Thanks a lot Jazz for your help!
